Psychosomatic symptoms

You may be experiencing physical symptoms for which doctors cannot find a medical explanation. Yet you still feel the discomfort, pain, and fatigue. They are real and can be severe and long-lasting. Often, the cause lies in a combination of stress, emotional tension, or unresolved trauma.

Examples of psychosomatic complaints include recurring or persistent pain, fatigue or muscle tension, or digestive issues such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). These symptoms can significantly interfere with your daily life.

A holistic approach—focusing on the interaction between body and mind—can help reduce your symptoms. I work with various psychotherapeutic and body-oriented therapies. The approach is always discussed with you and tailored to your individual needs.

Therapy Program

The therapy program consists of a combination of psychological and physical methods. Together, we explore what works best for you. Typically, the program involves six to twelve sessions.

Psychological approach: processing and developing

Sometimes unresolved emotions or negative thought patterns lie at the root of your symptoms. That’s why I use various methods to support you:

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): to explore what is emotionally troubling you and which essential needs are not being met
  • EMDR: when traumatic memories or fears are intensifying your symptoms
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): to break negative thought patterns and develop new, healthy ways of thinking
  • Hypnotherapy: you will learn self-hypnosis to reduce stress at home and achieve deep mental relaxation. This can help influence physiological processes in your body

Body-oriented approach: breathing and relaxation

In addition to psychological methods, I also work with the Buteyko method. This breathing therapy can help with symptoms such as:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Dizziness or tingling sensations
  • Heart palpitations or frequent sighing/yawning

Through specific breathing exercises, you restore a calm and functional breathing pattern, allowing these symptoms to gradually decrease.
