Coaching

Rediscovering what drives you in your work
Are you stuck in your work? Do you feel empty, burned out or unhappy? Or are you an employer looking for an effective way to support a member of staff before sick leave or resignation becomes a reality? Coaching offers a focused, personal approach to help you move forward again.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a goal-oriented form of guidance centred on your desire — as an employee or professional — to move forward. It is a series of conversations that lead to greater self-awareness and concrete steps to achieve your goals. The coach’s questions reflect back which patterns are getting in the way and what needs to shift in order to find more satisfaction and effectiveness at work.
Coaching is used for work-related issues such as chronic stress, the early stages of burnout, communication and collaboration in the workplace, and rediscovering enjoyment and energy in your work. The approach draws on insights from cognitive behavioural therapy, positive psychology and solution-focused therapy.
How does a coaching trajectory work?
A coaching trajectory is always tailored to the individual, but it does follow a consistent structure. The key elements are:
- Intake – In the first session we map out together what is going on, what is holding you back and what you want to achieve. It is an open conversation aimed at truly understanding your situation. From this, we establish a clear coaching goal.
- Insight into stuck patterns – Our reactions to what we experience are largely automatic and unconscious. During coaching, you discover which thoughts and habits are getting in your way, and how you might respond to situations differently.
- Change in practice – With each new insight, we explore the concrete steps you can take in your day-to-day life: responding differently, setting firmer boundaries, creating new opportunities for yourself or developing new habits.
- Closing – We wrap up when you feel more grounded — with greater self-awareness, a clearer sense of direction and practical tools to carry forward independently.
How long a trajectory takes varies from person to person, typically ranging from eight to twelve sessions. Where the cost is covered by an employer, the number of sessions is based on an approved proposal.

Coaching in combination with other methods
Work-related problems are often connected to deeper underlying causes. In such cases, coaching can be combined with psychotherapeutic methods — in particular EMDR therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
EMDR for work-related trauma
EMDR therapy can be helpful when a specific distressing experience continues to have an impact and interferes with your daily functioning. For example, you may have been involved in a workplace accident or an incident of violence at work. You find yourself experiencing intrusive memories, startled reactions or a persistent sense of being unsafe in the workplace. EMDR works to reduce the emotional impact of that memory to the point where you can once again carry out your work with confidence.
Another situation where EMDR therapy can help is when you have been bullied over a prolonged period by a manager or colleague. You now avoid situations where you might encounter them as much as possible, feel uncertain about yourself and tend to withdraw. EMDR can help you rebuild your self-image and open up to (more) social connections in the workplace.
EFT for tension and dissatisfaction
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is valuable when you feel unhappy at work but cannot quite understand why. You may have felt for years, for instance, that your efforts go unseen and unappreciated — no matter how hard you work. Rationally, you know you are performing well, but emotionally you feel empty and overlooked. EFT helps you explore that underlying need for recognition, understand where it comes from and find a healthier way to relate to it — so that you feel more secure in yourself.
Or perhaps you have been carrying a vague sense for some time that your work or your organisation no longer fits who you are. You keep going back and forth, unable to get clear on what you actually want. EFT helps you move beyond that cycle of rumination and closer to the emotions that have been trying to tell you something for a long time. By exploring those signals, it becomes clearer what you actually need — and what your next step might be.
