Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Abdominal pain, but no medical explanation
Do you suffer from abdominal pain, bloating, or digestive issues, but medical tests show nothing? You are not alone. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is common, especially among those who are sensitive to stress. The symptoms can significantly impact your daily life.
Common treatments like fiber-rich diets, painkillers, antispasmodics, and even antidepressants sometimes provide only temporary relief. But there is another, scientifically proven method: hypnotherapy.
Research shows that hypnotherapy is an effective treatment for IBS. Hypnosis helps you influence your autonomic nervous system and digestion, leading to a reduction in symptoms. With a specially developed therapy, you can learn to calm your intestines naturally and regain control of your health
Hypnosis for irritable bowel syndrome
The treatment begins with an intake session, followed by usually five to eight hypnotherapy sessions. From the first session, you will learn relaxation techniques that help reduce the tension and sensitivity of your intestines. Additionally, we will work on strengthening your self-confidence and better managing stress and other relevant factors.
Over time, your nervous system will be set to a lower baseline tension, which helps it respond less dramatically to stimuli. This helps your colon function more calmly, reducing your symptoms.
Actively contributing to your recovery
Hypnotherapy is not a passive treatment; you actively participate. Daily exercises are essential to mastering the techniques. After each session, you will receive an audio recording to practice at home. This way, you will learn to influence your intestines step by step and better manage your symptoms.

What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural ability that you can learn. In fact, you experience it more often than you think. For example, when you get completely absorbed in a movie or a book, or when you suddenly wonder, “Am I there yet?” because you’ve driven somewhere on autopilot. These are moments of deep concentration and imagination — exactly the state in which hypnosis works.
How does hypnosis work in therapy?
During the sessions, you will learn how to consciously enter this relaxed, focused state. We often do this with relaxation techniques or by directing your attention to a specific idea. You remain awake and fully in control. While following my suggestions, you will simultaneously become absorbed in your own experience.
Hypnotherapy for irritable bowel syndrome
Although you cannot directly control the functioning of your intestines, you can influence them. Your thoughts and imagination have a measurable effect on your body. Think of the idea of biting into a sour lemon — your saliva production likely increases immediately. This principle is used in hypnotherapy to influence digestion and intestinal function.
At the hypnotherapy session, I make suggestions (starting with phrases like “Imagine that…”) to activate your imagination. Scientific research shows that with practice, you can positively change bowel function. The movements and muscle contractions of the intestines improve, reducing intestinal hypersensitivity and alleviating your symptoms.
